Makes No Sense

Originally the demo was made in 2017-2018 with an amazing bassist friend who now doesn’t do music professionally. Going through old beats and sessions 4 years later, came across the beat and being inspired by all the disco wrote the demo that became Makes No Sense. Really loved the writing with it, you don’t make no sense (cents), but you can take my money”

Rock It with 7000 (7K)

A sample chop and interpolation trying to make an old school techno disco house type song that is pretty repetitive and repeating the same thing over again.

Jit//Oochie

Oochie was the first song of the two demo’d. the song was made off a disco vinyl cut sample. liked the demo originally, made it then forgot about it. Fast forward to Chicago when Jit was made. Really vibing with the beat and demo. Remembered I made another song with the sample and pulled up oochie to realized it was the same sample chop and temp but different key. Decided to put the two together and make an interpolation of the sample to create a vamp style track to finish out the high energy of Jit.

Bands Dance with Alfred Banks, SaxKixAve, & Alb the Builder

Bands Dance was the first song written for the MYCS album. It was high energy and bounce tempo with the rim sample from a lot of Nola bounce music. It had such an upbeat feel that kinda kick started the whole pivot into Music You Can See. Since it was a bounce song and only had connections/affiliation with Nola and not actually from there, thought it would be cool make anonymous music that would allow for collaborations to take place and people wouldn’t draw a conclusion that that type of song shouldn’t have been made in the first place. Close with Albert of SaxKixAve, and reached out to them for the Alfred Verse as well as some added production to really bring in the Nola flare to the track and bring some of the city in. Originally written as a flexing but positive strip club song saying “if you never had it, throw it up in the air,” meaning now throw your money up to shaking ass if you use to be broke. A quoteable song making punches to bus down watches and flipping drugs or being a freelance worker saying I make money and make it make more.

Boy Cried Wolf

This song was created in the cascade mountains off a lake. A MYCS member provided the beat. The instructional disco dance sample was from an instructional vinyl record that was chopped and placed over the beat. The rest of the song was written around that sample, the idea being the singer finds a woman in a dance club who is with someone else, when the other individual leaves the woman’s side, the singer approaches the woman and teaches her this dance as a way of picking her up.

Sight with Loona Dae

Originally was gonna be the final song on the original scenic album. However ended up throwing it out. The song was about 10 bpm slower and a little bit more depressive and somber. Thought to close the album out with something like that, but ended up not vibing with the energy. Originally was written in the woods under Mount Adams in Washington State. Was super influenced with Wet’s Letter Blue at the time and would make a lot of sense against the demo. However, when I decided to bring it back for the deluxe, we took it a whole different route and went Jersey Club. Loona was always on the song back before the Jersey flip and I would say her verse is probably the favorite for me across all of scenic.

Sync//Dumb with Kaisa

Original song Sync was done in Atlanta. A scratch. Liking the demo but feeling it was a little corny feeling & wanting to take it into a different direction, mycs hit up evtlst (an up & coming Chicago based hyper-pop artist) to take it to a different place. She ended up scratching the demo and making an entirely different song. Now kinda liking both demos, MYCS combined the two songs and seamlessly making them transition. A psychedelic rock/dance song, into a hyper-pop demo rap song.

5 Years with 7000 (7K)

Written in Chicago alongside ceiling the night before a production/writing camp for MYCS in Indianapolis. Wine drunk, the song is about a toxic ex who told the performer she would get back together with them 5 years later. The perspective of the song now being 5 years later and the performer made it on his own and doesn’t want to get back together with ex girlfriend or share the rewards of working so hard single.

Ceiling

The night before a MYCS excursion in a different city, got incredibly wine drunk and wrote to some beats sent from another MYCS member, thus ceiling and 5 years were both born. Ceiling being about the intoxication you feel in the early stages of the a relationship. You are high off the honeymoon stages of a relationship while also struggling with your own single habits and mental health problems. A play on words being lost in your mind, lost in the relationship with SO and high off drugs
